The new hardcore league mode for Dungeons and Dragons Online released today, upping the difficulty for players interested in a more significant challenge than the base game.
There’s a brand new mode coming to Dungeons, and Dragons Online called Hardcore Mode. In it, players have to try to play the game as they usually would; however, when they die, their character permanently remains in the Land of Lost Souls. They have no way of returning, and if they want to continue playing on the Hardcore Servers, they need to make a new character and start over.
Usually, players have character abilities or items to prevent themselves from dying. All of those items and abilities get turned off, preventing any player from dying even a single them and then resurrecting. Everything becomes a danger, from falling from too far of height to getting surprised by a sudden ambush they weren’t expecting to encounter.
When players load into the game, they can access to the Hardcore league from the dropdown server list. They can click on that, and start playing the game to take part in the challenge. What’s the goal of the new mode? There’s a leaderboard tracking the progress of all the characters who get made on the server. Players are going to receive rewards based on how well they do during the character’s lifetime on the Hardcore server. We have the prizes listed below:
- Eyes of Darkness Cosmetic – Character reaches a Total Favor of 1750
- Bloody Footprints Cosmetic – Character reaches a Total Favor of 5000
- Special Tattered Cloak – Character gains 10 Reaper Enhancements
- Blood Reaper Pet – Character Gains 20 Reaper Enhancements
Additionally, the top 100 players on the Hardcore server from the Total Favor and the Reaper Enhancement reward trees are going to get immortalized in the Hall of Heroes.
Only the VIP players and those who have the Season Pass have access to the Hardcore league servers. Those who play the game for free are going to need to purchase one of these premium subscriptions to take part in the event.
The Hardcore league starts today, Aug. 16, and lasts until Nov. 15. Make sure to check out the developers’ FAQ for further details about the event, and how to not end up dead within the first couple of quests.
