Previously announced at E3, The Witcher 3: Complete Edition on Switch has received an October 15 release date at Gamescom 2019.
After a long run of rumors about its existence, The Witcher 3 was finally confirmed to be getting a port for the Nintendo Switch earlier this year. Its reveal at Nintendo’s E3 Direct left out one crucial detail — its release date — which got announced at Gamescom. The Witch 3 Complete Edition will be out on Switch on Oct. 15, 2019.
The Witcher 3 initially launched in 2015 and is still considered by many to be the gold standard for open-world RPGs. It looks so good that some brushed rumors of its Switch release aside as infeasible for the system’s capabilities. During the game’s original announcement trailer and at the Gamescom release date showing it had less-than-ideal graphics. However, it still features the same, solid gameplay and rich storytelling that has assisted it in achieving unqualified success since it first released.
The Witcher 3: Complete Edition features every piece of content that released for the hit game. The complete edition comes with the base game and both expansion packs alongside the whopping 16 sets of small DLC that came out during the game’s release.
The DLC packs cover small additions to the game, such as new armor sets, and hairstyles. The more substantial expansions, Heart of Stone and Blood and Wine, feature hours of story-based quests.
If you played The Witcher 3 at launch and somehow managed to skip the expansions, you’re going to find it worth your time returning to The Witcher 3: Complete Edition to finish them. They’re considered some of the best parts of the entire game. Blood and Wine, in particular, is an unskippable experience.
The Witcher 3: Complete Edition reportedly runs at 720p in the Switch docked mode, but there’s still some concern over how the game’s performance. Given CD Projekt Red’s track record, there’s a good reason to believe that the game will be optimized well enough not to sacrifice too much performance. But it’s still not going to be quite the powerhouse of the original versions.
Regardless, the appeal of hunting incredible monsters and experiencing one of the best stories in modern RPGs wherever you are is quite exciting.
