What player is the newest member of the FUT Icon family? Chelsea and Ghanaian Legend, Michael Essien, is the newest Icon revealed by EA and it’s not a bad choice.
Ahead of the new FIFA release, EA has been revealing what players we can expect to spend a lot of time trying to hunt down for our FUT squads. The list has been impressive so far, with the likes of Zidane, Koeman, Pirlo, and…er…Ian Wright already being announced.
In fact, elsewhere on this site, I’ve already started up a guide to all the world-class footballers, and Ian Wright, that you can expect to find in FIFA 20 and yesterday it was announced that we’d be getting a brand new addition to that list. So, just who is it?
Chelsea and Ghanaian Legend, Michael Essien, is the newest Icon revealed by EA and it’s not a bad choice. He may not be the prettiest of players on the pitch, he won’t wow you like a Ronaldo or Messi, and he might not bang in the goals like his former teammate Drogba, but Essien was an intricate part of Chelsea’s domination.
During his time with the club, he won two Premier League titles, four FA Cups, one League Cup, and, as if Chelsea Fans would ever let us forget it, a Champions League. He was the definition of a midfield general and did all the grunt work for the side. This is the kind of player that every FIFA fan should want patrolling their midfield and now, thanks to Icons, you stand the chance of having just that.
There have been no stats released for Essien at the moment but I think it’s safe to assume that he’ll be in the high 80’s and I, for one, can’t wait to have him line-up next to Zidane in what will be one of the best central midfield partnerships that FIFA has ever seen.
