Details have been revealed for Pokémon GO’s upcoming Halloween 2019 event.
It’s almost time for Halloween, so of course, there’s going to be a Pokémon GO event to coincide with the holiday. This year, trainers can expect new Pokémon, a new Raid Boss, and, of course, more Candy.
The event will last from October 17 at 1:00 P.M. PT through November 1. During this time, Ghost- and Dark-type Pokémon, such as Gastly and Murkrow, will appear more frequently in the wild. Also, the Generation V Ghost-type Pokémon Yamask will begin appearing in the game for the first time. Of course, this means that with enough Yamask Candy, you’ll be able to evolve one into Cofagrigus, another Ghost-type new to the game.
During the event, you’ll also be able to find Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle wearing Halloween costumes. Pikachu will be dressed as Mimikyu, Bulbasaur will be dressed as Shedinja, Charmander will be dressed as Cubone, and Squirtle will be dressed as Yamask. You might also find Shiny variants of these costumed Pokémon. Costumed Pikachu will appear in the wild while costumed Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle will appear in Raids.
Additionally, the Mythical Dark-type Pokémon Darkrai will start appearing in five-star Raid Battles during the event. You can also find Halloween-themed Field Research, as well as Special Research, that will lead to the Forbidden Pokémon Spiritomb. Trainers will also get double Candy for doing things like catching, hatching, and transferring Pokémon.
Lastly, a few permanent additions will be introduced into the game when the Halloween event starts. Firstly, Yamask won’t be around for just the Halloween event (though it will have an increased spawn rate during it) but can be found in the game afterward as well. It will also be possible to find Shiny Yamask. Some new avatar items will be available in the in-game shop, including a Pikachu Onesie, a Zubat Bag, a Cubone Cap, a Litwick Cap, and a Mimikyu Bag. Finally, more Pokémon will be able to appear as Shadow Pokémon in Team Go Rocket Grunt battles. These include Weedle, Kakuna, Beedrill, Electabuzz, Magmar, Lapras, Mareep, Seedot, Nuzleaf, Sableye, Trapinch, Cacnea, Shuppet, and Duskull.
