In the upcoming 9th annual New York Game Awards, Reggie will receive the Andrew Yoon Legend Award. Reggie shared the news on his Twitter account, an account he made after he retired from Nintendo.

The reward goes to those who “exhibit a significant, sustained body of work that shows exceptional achievement and innovation.” Other recipients of the award include Google’s Jade Raymond and Bethesda’s Todd Howard.

IGN had an interview with Reggie through email about receiving the reward, and it is through this interview Reggie shared his history with Nintendo. He also detailed what he’s been doing during his retirement from the company. He talks about how his personality on-stage and on-video are reflections of his real-life personality; there is no other Reggie than the one that we all see. Since retiring, Reggie has joined the New York Videogame Critics Circle’s board of directors.
