It looks like the next evolution of Overwatch is officially happening.
A new trailer was revealed during BlizzCon today, showing turmoil ahead for several characters within the world of Overwatch. A war has taken more than 15,000 lives, with the heroes wondering what they can do to stop it.
With that, “Overwatch Recall” is initiated, and we’re finally getting the next step — Overwatch 2. The trailer showcases several heroes stepping up to the battle, with the “band getting back together.” It then shows the characters doing whatever it takes to fight back against the automated forces.
“We can make a difference again. The world needs us now, more than ever!” the voiceover sounds.
Following the trailer reveal, game director Jeff Kaplan came out to talk about a few things before going into a second trailer highlighting the game. It features Winston looking over a photo of fellow Heroes while talking with Mei. Tracer informs them their vessel is landing, and things pick up right away.
The crew then begins attacking robots on the ground, but Mei becomes injured during the firefight. As their group is fired upon, Winston covers the rest of the group as they get away. Just as he’s about to be fired upon, he’s saved by Genji. Other heroes then emerge, with a glimpse of the newest Hero, Echo. And, eventually, the larger of the robots are destroyed, thanks to Mei’s ice backpack.
More details on Overwatch 2 will be available soon. In the meantime, check out the trailers below, including the new cinematic!
