Part of Hearthstone’s The Boomsday Project expansion, Academic Espionage gives players 10 random cards from their opponent’s deck that cost just one Mana each.
A new Hearthstone card was just revealed for the upcoming expansion The Boomsday Project, and this time, it was Trump’s turn to reveal the card. That is, the Hearthstone broadcaster, not the U.S. President. Earlier today, Trump revealed Academic Espionage is coming to Hearthstone, which is a card that shuffles 10 cards from your opponent’s class and into your deck.
Available for just four Mana Crystals with each new card costing one Mana, this Epic Agility card is perfect for players that like to improvise their strategies while in battle. It also lets players quickly gain some of their opponents’ most powerful cards and use them on their side, turning the tables during duals.
Pretending to be Hearthstone game director Ben Brode, Trump implies this card really lets players take on their opponent’s identity. It’s a pretty accurate assessment and makes this a powerful card in its own right, especially because Trump stresses that the card can be combined with Ultimate Infestation to draw five more cards and deal five damage against an enemy.
Of course, while Academic Espionage seems to have plenty of appeal, Hearthstone players won’t know for certain whether it’s competitively viable until it’s seen a fair amount of time in play once The Boomsday Project is out. That’s despite the fact Trump’s Twitch chat suggested the card was “broken.”
The Boomsday Project is the second expansion of the current Standard year, the Year of the Raven. It will add 135 new cards to the game, including new keywords like Magnetic. It is currently available to pre-order, with all the cards becoming available on Aug. 7.
