On January 15, Sony announced via Twitter that the first details regarding MLB The Show 21 will be released sometime in the month of February. But just a few days before the calendar flips to a new month, a curious listing might mean bad news for Xbox and Nintendo console owners.
Brazil’s video game rating system, entitled the Classificação Indicativa, has rating listings for both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 versions of MLB The Show. No ratings are listed for any of the Xbox or Nintendo platforms.
As of right now, Sony has not made any information public regarding a potential release of MLB The Show 21 for non-Sony platforms. Major League Baseball, along with the MLBPA and Sony, reached an agreement back in 2019 to continue the relationship between the parties, as well as bringing the franchise to non-Sony platforms in the near future.
However, the joint release stated that this rollout would happen “as early as 2021,” so it is quite possible that this is an early indication that MLB The Show may not hit the Xbox Series X/S or Nintendo Switch this year.
