The studio behind Bulletstorm is working on a new shooter.
Noted for its work alongside Epic Games, with which it helped develop Gears of War: Judgement, People Can Fly is now working on developing a new shooter in conjunction with Square Enix.
This will be studio’s first game release since it regained its independence after being acquired by Epic Games in 2015.
Prior to beginning the as-of-yet unnamed project, People Can Fly expanded its operations by opening two new offices in Europe. The studios are located in Newcastle, England and Rzeszów, Poland. The goal is to have these new studios develop games independently of People Can Fly’s main studio in Warsaw. The company is also looking at expanding its overall staff by the end of 2018, People Can Fly CEO Sebastian Wojciechowski said in a press release.
Although the developer has kept a lower profile in recent years, primarily releasing new versions of Bulletstorm and aiding in the development of Fortnite alongside Epic Games, the studio has a long history within the FPS genre. Its debut game, Painkiller, became the main focus of the Cyberathlete Professional League in 2005. Jonathan “Fatal1ty” Wendel eventually took the title as Painkiller world champion after defeating Sander “Vo0” Kaasjager in the grand finals.
Aside from announcing its partnership with Square Enix, however, details surrounding the new game are sparse. There was also no news on the People Can Fly website that hinted at the game being showed at E3 on June 12.
