Grab the eggnog, it’s time to kill vampires.
In a since-deleted tweet that came practically out of nowhere, one of Netflix’s official Twitter accounts announced that the third season of its animated Castlevania series will arrive on Dec. 1. The streaming service previously didn’t say anything about the new season beforehand, aside from the fact that it was in production.
The tweet comes from the Netflix Nordic account, which included Castlevania Season 3 in its highlights for the forthcoming month. See the content of the original tweet here:

There hasn’t been much chatter on any of Netflix’s other social accounts just yet. But with the season premiere just a week away, there are likely to be more details—and possibly a trailer—very soon.
The show has been a big hit since its premiere on Netflix in 2017, even with just four episodes initially. Season two doubled down with an 8-episode count in October 2018, expanding on the story with the debut of Symphony of the Night’s Alucard. There’s no word on how long the third season will run, but eight episodes seems like a safe bet.
Adi Shankar serves as executive producer on the series, alongside Warren Ellis (also a writer for the show), Kevin Kolde and Fred Seibert. Their Twitter accounts have so far also been silent on the release date of season 3.
