Pokémon GO Fest is back on in Chicago after storms blow over.
Pokémon GO players attending Chicago GO Fest 2019 can rest easy now as Niantic and Chicago city officials are working on getting the event ready to reopen soon.
A severe storm warning for the Chicago area forced Niantic to suspend the event and ask all players in attendance to vacate the area and find shelter in case the weather got really bad.
We have been working with local authorities and have been cleared to reopen the event site. Gameplay at Pokémon GO Fest will turn back on at 3:30 pm. As always, please be aware of your surroundings and stay safe. Thanks for your patience.

Thankfully that wasn’t the case, and now players can get back to catching Pokémon when the event opens back up at 3:30 pm CT. Though the event was only closed for a few hours, Niantic will still be extending in-game events for players. It is unclear what those extensions will be or how long they will last, but keep an eye on Niantic’s social pages in the coming hours and days as the event goes on for more details.
As always when playing Pokémon GO, please be aware of your surroundings while playing, including the weather. Stay safe and have fun trainers!
