Mads Mikkelsen has talked once again about his role in Death Stranding, where he plays the mysterious and villainous character of Cliff.
As he has noted in the past, you might give for granted that Cliff is a villain because of his look and his actions in the previous trailers of the game, but that would be wrong since, like others in the game, that character will get through a process of evolution over the course of the adventure.
“Yeah, but then again – no. We learn more about the characters throughout those hours or days of playing the game,” Mikkelsen said during a recent interview with a Russian website (via WCCFTech).
“I’m not sure how much I’m allowed to say, but… The more you play it, the more the characters will develop, and you will find little bits and pieces that fit the puzzle, so I would definitely not say that he is the antagonist solely.”
Back in the days of his first appearances, I thought of him being the Revolver Ocelot of this new story, where Cliff might be a character that starts as an evil one but then, as you play, you learn the reasons behind his actions and look at him under a very different light.
That could be it, going by what the actor is trying and saying amidst the things he is allowed to reveal at this stage.
Death Stranding is releasing on November 8, 2019, for PS4.
