Microsoft confirms the five vs. five Wrecking Zone mode will launch without the ability to invite friends to games.
Eligible players in the Xbox Insider Program have been given access to test the five vs. five Wrecking Zone mode for Sumo Digital’s upcoming Crackdown 3 before it’s Feb. 15 release. Many players have been enjoying the destruction, but players began to notice the game lacking the ability to invite friends to games. The official Crackdown Discord account “MSFT Crackdown” confirmed (source Reddit) that it was not a glitch.
“Wrecking Zone does not support parties and will not at launch,” confirmed MSFT Crackdown. “I don’t have any info on if/when they might be implemented.”
The news was also confirmed by Senior Creative Director of Xbox Games Studios Joseph Staten on Twitter, “Not for day one, no. Stay tuned for updates on our plans post-launch.”

It’s unclear why a common feature will be absent from Microsoft’s most significant release this half of 2019. Crackdown 3 was announced at E3 2014 and has been delayed every year since, and the game has been struggling to catch the attention of a mass audience. Players will have to enjoy the cloud-powered environmental destruction with randoms at launch, but the campaign will allow two player co-op with friends. Crackdown 3 releases Feb. 15 on Xbox One and is available day one on Xbox Game Pass.
