Cyberpunk 2077 Dev Wants You To Enjoy It Even If You Don’t Like FPS

Fans of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt new to CD Projekt RED’s works were quite surprised, and even disappointed, at learning that Cyberpunk 2077 would be only playable in a first person view. It felt like a shock to many, and I can recall people petitioning in order to make the devs change their minds.

Fans of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and those who are new to CD Projekt RED’s works were surprised at learning that Cyberpunk 2077 is only playable in a first-person view. It felt like a shock to many, and some people even petitioned to make the developers change their minds.

Of course, that didn’t happen. Too much work had gone into the game. The developers can’t change such a massive pillar in their design. However, CD Projekt RED knows fans feel about that and want to make sure the game is enjoyable by gamers who don’t play many first-person shooter titles.

In a recent interview, UI coordinator Alvin Liu (via PCGamesN) said that the studio was careful in adding a hardcore mode so that people wanting a higher challenge could play that. However, “at the same time, if you want to play more casually for the story, and maybe you’re not experienced with shooters, which was a real concern for us.”

“We want to tell a story, and maybe you’re a big fan of The Witcher, and you’re not comfortable playing a shooter, we have settings available for that,” Liu said. “We even have weapons for that. If you recall from last year’s demo, we had a weapon called the smart gun, which helps you aim. The bullets were much slower and usually a bit weaker. But if your aiming isn’t your forte, you can always pick up the smart gun.”

Cyberpunk 2077 releases on April 16, 2020, for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
