Deltarune, from developer Toby Fox, is coming to the Nitendo Switch. Announced at Nintendo Direct, Deltarune Chapter 1 will be available on February 28. You will also be able to get your hands on it for free. Further chapters will then be coming to the console, but will not be free.

If you don’t want to know anything about the game (the video shown on Nintendo Direct was spoiler free) then read no further. The release date of the 28 February and the fact that it is free is all you need to know. If you don’t mind even the smallest of spoilers, then read on.

Deltarune is a role-playing game that puts you in the shoes of a human named Kris. You will try to complete various quests and objectives, and will have the option to attack or spare monsters. While the aim of the game is to try and resolve issues peacefully, this will not always be easy due to another character named Susie. She is not controlled by the player, and loves nothing more than a good fight. As such, a considerable amount of thought must be put into trying to stop Susie from attacking every monster she sees.

Chapter 1 was originally released for Windows and macOS, for free, back in October 2018. It is great to see this unique experience make its way to the Switch.
