Bungie has pulled back the curtain on Destiny 2: Forsaken, and it’s chock full of additions and changes that will be sure to excite longtime fans of the series.

A new ViDoc trailer was released to kick off a live stream today. The video is over nine minutes long and is basically a laundry list of changes that the community has been yearning for since the game released last September. Bungie has been listening and watching as players have moved away from the game, and this is an epic attempt to bring everyone back into the hobby that is Destiny.

Bungie wasn’t prepared to talk about the story for Forsaken today, because that will begin next week at E3. Today the developers talked about “bringing depth back” into Destiny 2 and reinforcing it as a hobby with a slew of new and returning features.

One of the main features of Forsaken is a new game mode called Gambit, which is a PvEvP sort of scenario. It pits two teams of four against each other in separate instances while fighting PvE enemies, but the two teams can directly effect the other’s environment in a new competitive format. It’s a completely new kind of experience for Destiny. Gambit will be playable next week at E3.

The expansion will introduce multiple new locations, including The Dreaming City, an area designed from the ground up to support endgame content, and the home of Forsaken’s new Raid. Bungie says that the location will change over time, and is something of an amalgam of everything the team has learned about both Raids and endgame content.

Forsaken will introduce a ton of features, including new Super abilities for Guardians, different enemies, a slew of weapons and armor, a brand new bow weapon class, and fresh activities in unique locations. In total, Bungie said there’s over 2,000 new items to collect. But some of the most sought after additions are being made in changes to existing systems within the game.

Aside from the content, Bungie has revealed a new road map that highlights all of the changes coming to the game within the next few months, including the huge Forsaken update on Sept. 4. The list of changes for that update is quite long and it has a large focus on changes that players have been requesting for a while.

Gear collections, in-game Triumphs, an update to the Mod system, bulk Shader deletion, additional Vault slots, and in-game lore are just some of the long-awaited additions coming in September’s update.

Weapon slots will be changing, meaning you can equip different weapons in different slots than before, like a sniper rifle in the energy slot. This has been a controversy since Destiny 2 began since it changed weapon slots from the original game.

Random weapon rolls are back, in one of the most anticipated changes—no gun will be the same anymore. Each weapon will have random perks, bringing back the chase for the perfect “God-roll” and extending the endgame even further.

In another announcement sure to raise some eyebrows, Bungie has ditched the traditional Expansion Pass for a new Annual Pass. This pass gives players access to premium content, with endgame activities being the focal point in lieu of things like story missions and cutscenes.

Bungie describes the Annual Pass events, called Black Armory, Joker’s Wild, and Penumbra, as introducing several new features like endgame challenges, weapons and armor, new and returning Exotics, pinnacle activities, triumph records to collect, and fresh lore to discover.

The Annual Pass is additional on top of the $39.99 Forsaken expansion. Both Forsaken and the Annual Pass are bundled together for $69.99, with a Digital Deluxe Edition including both and additional premium content for $79.99.

Destiny 2: Forsaken releases on Sept. 4 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Battle.net.
