Bandai Namco has officially confirmed that the role-playing game Digimon Survive will come westward in 2019. The announcement came paired with a trailer, as well as a few hints about what kind of content the game will feature and what kind of Digimon will be available to partner with. It looks like plenty of familiar faces will be back this time around.

The game follows Takuya Momotsuka, who’s suddenly transported to a weird new world filled with strange creatures after getting lost during a school camping trip. Together with his partner Agumon, he’ll be tasked with exploring the new world and getting his bearings. Of course, there will be a set of other new teenage characters there with him as well, and everyone will try to figure out a way to get back home while working with their monster allies.

While there will be a considerable amount of exploration, conversational areas of the game will feature anime scenes and portraits with 2D illustrations. Some elements of play will be based on how players respond to various choices, and there will be some investigation scenes on offer as well. As far as combat goes, there will be a set of SRPG-styled battles with confrontations that take place on grid-based battlegrounds.

The game is targeting a 2019 release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC just in time for the 20th anniversary of the original anime series. It sounds like it’s a great time to get back into Digimon ahead of the game’s debut.
