Chapter Two of Beyond, which is Elite Dangerous’ Season 3, is now available on all platforms. This smaller update adds quality of life improvements.
Frontier has been working on releasing a steady stream of content updates through this year in what they call Elite Dangerous: Beyond, their third season. The second of those updates, relevantly dubbed Chapter Two, is now available for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One gamers. It is free of charge, and while it is one of the smaller planned updates, still contains some new goodies for your space pilots out there. Pardon me, I meant Commanders, of course.
Players will find two new ships – the Krait Mk II and the Alliance Challenger – as well as a selection of new Wing Missions, installation interactions, new settlements to explore and a cache of new Guardian weapons and technology from the Tech Brokers to combat the ever-growing and ever-encroaching Thargoid threat.
Everyone who owns Elite Dangerous can enjoy some of the new features added in this update, such as scenarios, visiting megaships and installations, as well as changes to crime and punishment. You can now turn yourself into the authorities, for example. Most of the new content, however, is reserved for owners of the Horizons DLC. So if you want to fly the new ships and equip the new weapons, you’ll need to have that.
Chapter Two may not be packed with new content, but a more substantial update is coming in Q4 of this year, which will introduce squadrons and feature improvements to mining, exploration and much more.
You can find a full list of changes in the Elite Dangerous forums, and if your favorite soccer team has made an early exit from the World Cup, head over to YouTube to watch some developer live streams.
