I like what Ubisoft are doing with the Far Cry 5 DLC. Partly because the story was the weakest part of the game, partly because doing weird new things is always appreciated. Having the DLC focus on things outside of the main game itself has been a blast so far. On July 17 the new Lost On Mars DLC will arrive.

Lost on Mars transports the franchise’s insanity from Hope County to the red planet as Nick Rye is teleported to a hostile planet to help his buddy Hurk thwart an alien invasion of Earth. This adventure gives players a new arsenal of alien weaponry, including the Blaster of Disaster, Hellfire and Morphinator, while also introducing a new traversal tool with Space Jets. Humankind’s future is in the hands of the game’s most notorious guns-for-hire. Time to squash some bugs!

From the trailer, it would appear that we will be helping out one of the NPCs from the main game. You may have run into a scientist who needed help to complete an experiment, and seen him be whisked away to another dimension. It would appear he ended up on Mars. At least, I am almost certain that is the same character’s voice in the teaser. It looks like we will be taking on all manner of weird alien creatures as we try to help out a friend.

Assets will be able to be used in the Arcade Editor, a map and mode building portion of the game that allows players to create their own levels and maps, which I know is something that the community was curious to know.

Lost On Mars will be available as part of the Season Pass for $39.99 or the Gold Edition for $119.99, or can be purchased individually from UPlay.
