Ride or die with Vin Diesel and company.
We’ve seen Fast and Furious games in the past, most notably with the terrible Showdown that released back in 2013. But things are about to get real, as an officially licensed game featuring stars from the upcoming Fast and Furious 9 is on the way.
During tonight’s The Game Awards broadcast, Vin Diesel and Michelle Rodriguez revealed Fast and Furious Crossroads, a new project from Bandai Namco and the developers behind the Project CARS games, Slightly Mad Studios. The game will be team-based and focus on a series of heists featuring characters from the film.
With an authentic storyline that ties in with the film series, Crossroads will also benefit from significant star power. Diesel and Rodriguez play their respective characters, Dom and Letty, and Tyrese Gibson also stars, playing the role of Roman. Sonequa Martin-Green and Asia Kate Dillon will also join the cast.
The game comes packed with heroes, gadgets, cars and all sorts of wild racing action. It will focus on a single-player campaign, but will also have multiplayer, which will be revealed sometime in 2020.
The game will take place in locations across the globe, challenging Dom and his crew at every turn as they try to survive against the massive opposition.
Andy Tudor, the chief creative officer for Slightly Mad, spoke a bit about the game. “As huge fans of the franchise, it’s an honor to be able to expand the Fast & Furious franchise into the world of video games with a brand new story, the introduction of a new crew with ties to beloved characters, and iconic and stunning set pieces,” he said. “With Easter eggs throughout for fans and an intense multiplayer experience, Fast & Furious Crossroads is a thrilling collision course that puts players behind the wheel.”
The game will arrive around the same time as the untitled Fast and Furious sequel coming next year, in May. It’s set to debut on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
