Frostpunk, the brutally difficult post-apocalyptic city builder, is on the way to consoles this summer.
11 Bit Studio’s thematically brutal, and brutally difficult, city-building survival game Frostpunk is making the jump from PC to console this summer.
The developers have advised that they have made the game more accessible from a console players point of view, but it certainly has not been made any easier. An exact release date is not yet known, with 11 Bit Studios only saying that the game would be available on PS4 and Xbox One this summer.
In Frostpunk, you need to build and maintain a society among the cold, brutal hardships on an eternal winter. It is challenging in multiple ways, from the resource you focus on, to how you build your city, to important moral and leadership decisions that you need to make throughout the game.
The constant need to balance the needs of society with empathy for the individuals that make it up makes Frostpunk a pretty singular experience in the city-building genre, and it is one of my favorite titles of recent years.
City-builders are also not that common on the console, so if you have any interest in the genre, I do suggest you give this one a chance. We will keep you update with more information about the release as it becomes available.
