One of the surprises of E3 2018 was the lineup of new games coming from the Gears of War franchise, both for PC Windows 10 and Xbox One.
While Gears 5 was something we already could’ve been expecting since it’s a new chapter from the main series and Gears Pop! is a mobile title, our attention was surely captured by Gears Tactics.
At a panel held at X018, The Coalition studio head Rod Fergusson took some time to discuss this XCOM-like iteration of the IP, which is specifically tailored for PC.
“We’re right in the heart of the development for Gears Tactics. One of the things we’re focusing right now is ‘PC first’, we’re really trying to make sure it’s true to what a PC experience has to be,” he said.
“What’s really funny is that when you take the gameplay and make it turn-based strategy, the dependency on your squad and cover feels like it’s Gears of War at its essence of that brotherhood and tactics, that’s what it’s really about.”
Gears Tactics is in the making in partnership with developer Splash Damage, which has already worked on several Gears of War games for what concerns multiplayer, and is coming 2019.
Talking about Gears, did you read why The Coalition chose Kait as the protagonist of the next game in the main saga?
