FPS horror co-op GTFO is the first game to include Unity’s recently announced CineCast feature that enables the creation of movie like cinematic sequences.
At Unite LA – the Unity developer conference – it was announced that GTFO would be the first game to feature CineCast, a dynamic camera system that enables the creation of real-time cinema-quality footage from live gameplay. GTFO is being developed by 10 Chambers Collective an independent Swedish development team led by the game designer behind the PAYDAY franchise, Ulf Andersson.
GTFO is an upcoming co-op horror FPS where the enemy is a hostile living shadow that can only be seen in the reflection of light. Unity’s new camera system, CineCast, aims to bring the horror to your friends by letting you record gameplay from any angle in real-time. This dynamic camera system works as a link between scene cameras and an advanced director system that evaluates the interest of potential shots, and in real-time creates cinematic footage of live gameplay.
“Premiering this technology with GTFO feels absolutely right. It’s a game that continuously changes from stealth to intense action gameplay with an adaptable impressive soundtrack to add, making it a cinematic experience that really showcases the potential of CineCast’s technology”, says Adam Myhill, Creative Director at Made With Unity. “Also, GTFO is a game that is being built upon a very loyal and already engaging community, and we hope this tool will be of great value to them when they create their own content of GTFO to share.”
We’ve uploaded the preview of the CineCast technology that was shown at Unite LA for you below.
We wrote about our experience with GTFO from E3 earlier this year, and you can also watch a full 9 minutes of gameplay below.
GTFO doesn’t yet have a specific release date, though 2018 was the last mentioned period.
