343 Industries has revealed that it’ll be partnering with another external studio in order to fasten the development process on Halo Infinite, the next game in the longrunning first person shooter series.

“343 Industries is excited to continue our partnership with SkyBox Labs on Halo Infinite, with their team doing great work across many areas of our project,” 343 Industries’ Chris Lee said.

“We have been working closely with 343 Industries on Halo projects for a number of years, and we’re thrilled to be part of this exciting time in Halo’s history,” SkyBox’s Shyang Kong said.

This makes for a single huge team composed of 400 people from 343 Industries and around 100 people from SkyBox Labs, a studio that has already cooperated with Microsoft on Project Spark among the other things.

As for the development status, we were informed via a job listing that work is quite early on Halo Infinite, since the SlipSpace Engine is apparently still in the making and that was what Microsoft showcased, using a trailer as a tech demonstration, back at E3 2018.

So it’s likely going to take another couple years before we can put our hands on the game, but looking at the incoming launch of Gears of War 5 in 2019 it doesn’t seem there is any need to rush it.
