Showtime reveals more casting announcements for the Halo TV series, including announcing who will be playing Cortana.
Showtime has revealed more of the cast for the upcoming, live-action Halo TV series. The casting announcements include who will be playing Cortana.
Back in April, it was announced that Pablo Schreiber will be playing Master Chief in the Halo TV show. Schreiber is an actor known for his performances in American Gods on Amazon Prime. Master Chief is a super soldier from the Spartan program, who fights in a war against the Covenant. His missions often involved giant rings from space called Halos, which hold tremendous power.
In TCA summer press tour, Showtime revealed six more cast members for their Halo live-action series. Arguably the most crucial casting in Showtime’s TCA announcement is who will be playing Cortana, the Chief’s holographic AI companion.
Actress Natascha McElhone will not only be playing Cortana in the show, but she will also portray Dr. Catherine Halsey.
Dr. Halsey is the creator of Cortana and the Spartan super-soldier program. Master Chief is a Spartan, and in the original trilogy of games, he was considered to be the last of the Spartans.
The TV show appears to change that, as three of the other newly announced cast members are revealed to be playing Spartans. Actors Bentley Kalu, Natasha Culzac, and Kate Kennedy will be playing show-exclusive characters Spartan Vannak-134, Spartan Riz-028, and Spartan Kai-125 respectively.
Finally, actors Bokeem Woodbine and Shabana Azmi will portray Soren-066 and Admiral Margaret Parangosky, respectively. Soren is described as a “morally complex” privateer, who is a direct conflict with his old friend Master Chief. Parangosky is head of the Office of Naval Intelligence.
The Halo TV show is expected to release sometime in early 2021.
