Valheim, the smash indie Steam hit, has sold over two million copies in under two weeks, Iron Gate Studio has announced.
Taking to their Steam community page after hitting the milestone, the developer of the Viking-themed RPG revealed that it had taken just 13 days to hit its new target. This latest landmark comes just six days after Valheim registered one million copies sold.
Iron Gate Studio shared a “giant troll-sized thank you” with its community for the support and hours that it had poured into Valheim so far and revealed that there was more content to come in the next few months.
“Everyone at Iron Gate has really been appreciating all the messages, love, questions and thoughts from all of you, so please keep them coming!” Iron Gate said. “And again, a big thank you to all of you for helping us reach this ridiculous milestone in under two weeks of sailing onto Early Access. We’re so excited to continue working with you all to reach Asgard together, and we’ll be sharing more soon on what’s next.”
Iron Gate also confirmed that Valheim had amassed a peak concurrent user count of 360,000. However, Steam Database has updated that figure since Iron Gate Studio’s latest post, and Valheim’s peak concurrent count now stands at a remarkable 392,862. Given how quickly Valheim has captured the hearts of gamers, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the open-world survival game surpass 400,000 in the next couple of days.
For context, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Dota 2 are the only Steam titles with a bigger current peak count than Valheim. That duo, alongside PUBG, are the only games to be outstripping Iron Gate Studio’s Early Access title in the player count stakes. The likes of GTA V and Apex Legends have trailed in Valheim’s wake since its release, which is no mean feat for an indie game.
Valheim is available to buy on PC via Steam’s Early Access program.
