A new software update for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has landed, and it adds some new crossover content to the game.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe owners can now add a new driver to their collection—Link from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Link’s also bringing a new vehicle, the Master Cycle Zero, with him.
The update also includes two new vehicle components themed to Breath of the Wild, the Ancient Tyres and the Paragilder. The software update is completely free, and available to download right now.
Of course, Link is already in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. He was added to the original Mario Kart 8 as part of a paid DLC package in Nov. 2014. That package added the traditional Link, the Master Cycle, the Hylian Kite, and the Triforce Tires to the game. The game also added a Zelda-themed track, Hyrule Circuit. When Mario Kart 8 Deluxe was released, it included all previous DLC from the start.
Link’s look from Breath of the Wild is a nice outfit, but it’s the Master Cycle Zero that really stands out here. That steam-punk mechanical aesthetic from Breath of the Wild looks really stunning in Mario Kart, and stands out among all the other racers on the track.
If you’ve got Mario Kart 8 Deluxe already, you don’t need to do much to get the new content. Just fire the game up, and the Switch will prompt you to download the update. Then you can take that Master Cycle Zero for a spin.
