Minecraft Earth has released in early access in select countries. The following is where you will be able to play the game on iOS or Android, as well as some new features added to the game.
The mobile Augmented Reality game Minecraft Earth has released in early access in the United Kingdom and other territories today. The countries able to download the early access build will grow over the coming weeks. Players with either iOS or Android devices will be able to download the game.
The countries able to download in early access today are:
- United Kingdom
- Canada
- South Korea
- Philippines
- Sweden
- Mexico
- Australia
- New Zealand
- Iceland
And early access is not the only notable announcement today, as new features were added to the game that even closed beta participants have not had access to yet.
Adventures are small, procedurally generated Minecraft worlds that exist for a limited time. They’re optimized for multiplayer and utilize two new technologies. The first is dedicated servers to make the game more stable, and the second is the Azure Spatial Anchors (ASA), which allow for the creations in your world to carry over to other players’ mobile devices.
Smelting and crafting were also added to World to bring it more in line with the mainline Minecraft game. Smelting ores into ingots lets you use them and other items to craft useful items. Collect the proper items, and you will not need to find specific items out in the world as you can instead create them on the spot.
Finally, a few new mobs make their way into the game as well. The Muddy Pig, Moobloom, Jumbo Rabbit, and Cluckshroom all are available today.
In Minecraft Earth, players create structures with Minecraft blocks in the real world using AR displayed on their phone screen. You can travel to different areas of the real world and interact with other players’ creations, while also making your own.
