Mobile game Dragon Quest of the Stars has been out in Japan for a while now, but is finally coming to the West next year.
A few years ago, a mobile Dragon Quest game came out in Japan called Dragon Quest of the Stars. Pretty soon, Western audiences will be able to play the game as well.
Square Enix recently announced in a press release that Dragon Quest of the Stars will be coming to the West in early 2020. The game will be available for both Android and iOS devices. However, Android players specifically are currently able to pre-register for a Closed Beta Test that will be conducted from Oct. 30 through Nov. 28. You can pre-register for the Beta on the game’s website.
Players will be able to create their own custom character, as well as two companion characters. This will be the trio you use during the game’s main single-player campaign. There will also be multiplayer modes which the player can play with up to three friends. Of course, the game will feature character design by Dragon Ball artist and long-time Dragon Quest character designer Akira Toriyama. Dragon Quest of the Stars will also have in-game stickers designed by illustrator Kanahei. These stickers can be used in the game’s multiplayer modes.

This news comes off the heels of a busy week for Dragon Quest fans. Last week, the first three Dragon Quest games were all ported to the Switch. At the same time, Dragon Quest XI S, the definitive and expanded version of Dragon Quest XI, was also released on the Switch. Additionally, a Pokémon GO-like Dragon Quest mobile game called Dragon Quest Walk was recently released in Japan. There is no word yet if it will be localized outside of Japan. Dragon Quest of the Stars was initially released in Japan in 2015 and has been downloaded more than 20 million times.
