Monster Hunter: World is a booming success with gamers everywhere. Capcom just announced that the newest title in the long-running series has shipped five million units in its first three days alone.

The five million units are the largest shipment that a title in the series has achieved in its first three days, which is an accomplishment for the franchise that’s been around since 2004. The series originated on the PS2 but spent many years on the Wii and 3DS.

The game’s emphasis on co-op play is a strength, as players can team up with up to three friends to take down the game’s massive beasts and progress through the story while leveling up weapons and armor.

The sales for the game should only increase over time, as a PC version is set to release some time in the fall. With planned free updates over the foreseeable future including new monsters and Street Fighter V DLC, interest in the title has a good chance to stay throughout the year.

This marks the second year in a row that Capcom has had a commercial success to start off the year, as last January saw the release of Resident Evil 7: biohazard.
