The Japanese developer and publisher dropped an official release date trailer on the Pokémon YouTube channel on January 14, and revealed that pre-orders for the game are available at the Nintendo store later on today.

The trailer begins by showing off the new digital camera that players will use to add photographs to their Pokémon Photodex. The trailer also gave fans a glimpse at the NEO-ONE hovercraft vehicle, which will ferry them across the game’s various locations in the Lental region.

Beaches, jungles, and mountain regions are just some of the areas that players will explore as they venture to Lental’s idyllic islands. It also appears that all eight generations of Pokémon will be present in New Pokémon Snap. Grookey, Pichu, Heracross, Pinser, Toucannon, Aipom, Stantler, Torchic, and Bidoof are just a handful of Pokémon on display in the footage.

Professor Mirror and his assistant, Rita, will be on hand at the Laboratory of Ecology and Natural Sciences (L.E.N.S) to teach you about each island and review the images that you capture. Players will also be tasked by Professor Mirror with exploring the reasons behind the Illumina phenomenon. The trailer’s end shows an encounter with a glowing Meganium, and capturing photographs of these special Pokémon will help answer Professor Mirror’s questions on the mystery.

Developed by Bandai Namco Studios, New Pokémon Snap is the long-overdue follow-up to the Nintendo 64 titles that arrived in 1999.
