It’s not going to surprise anyone that EA will release NHL 19EA Sports NHL later this year in time for the next hockey season. This has happened every year since, well, since as long as I can remember. Judging by a recent tweet from the official Twitter account, however, we may be in for some new features that we haven’t seen before.

The brief teaser trailer certainly doesn’t shed too much light on what EA may have in store for us, not showing us much more than a handmade rink in the middle of nowhere. That alone may be a clue, but fortunately, we won’t have to wait too much longer to find out. Most hockey fans will have this Friday circled on their calendar, as the annual NHL entry draft will take place then.

This Wednesday, June 20th, the NHL will hand out its annual collection of hardware to well-deserving players and EA will be giving us fans a treat as well. During the NHL Awards in Las Vegas, EA will reveal more information about what’s to come in NHL 19 live from the stage.

Who knows, we may even find out who will grace this year’s cover. The tweet above teased us some more, only revealing that this year’s cover athlete hasn’t been on the box art before. My money is on Ovechkin, but time will tell.

Stay tuned to TL;DR Games for all the latest news and in-depth previews of NHL 19 as we’ll be diving into analyzing what our favorite hockey series will bring to our living rooms this fall.
