The rap star is hitting the ice like it’s hot.
We’ve seen rapper Snoop Dogg cross over with game franchises in the past, like the wrestling game Def Jam: Fight For NY and various Call of Duty games. But now, EA Sports has brought him in to hype one of its sports franchises: NHL 20.
The publisher announced today that the superstar is now a part of its latest hockey hit. The trailer below highlights his involvement, not only as a guest commentator on games, but also on the ice.
He’s a playable character in the game’s ONES Offline mode, as well as Squad Battles and World of CHEL. In addition, he has a featured squad in the game, and players who take them on in the Hockey Ultimate Team (HUT) mode will have a chance to unlock his custom Snoop Dogg jersey, seen above. Bring your skills, though—you’ll need to drop it like it’s hot.
This is a collaboration that came out of nowhere, but Snoop’s actually a big hockey fan, having called a Los Angeles Kings game back in January. That makes him a good choice for guest commentary, as you can hear in the trailer.
The game’s latest update is live now and should download automatically the next time players start it up.
No word yet on who could join the game next, but EA has hinted at other “guests,” including the legendary Wayne Gretzy and comedian Will Ferrell. We’ll see what the next few months bring.
NHL 20 is available now for Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
