A new monthly limited time event is coming to Pokémon GO called Pokémon GO Community Day. This new event will feature a special Pokémon each month with added bonuses. The first Pokémon GO Community Day begins January 20.
A brand new monthly event is making its way to Pokémon GO. Niantic announced that a monthly worldwide event will take place to celebrate Trainers and bring the Pokémon GO Community together.
What is Pokémon GO Community Day?
Pokémon GO Community Day will give Trainers the opportunity to come together at local parks to make new friends and experience what it means to be a part of the Pokémon GO community. While Niantic is blown away by Trainers hosting local events and meet ups on their own, Pokémon GO Community Day will surely bring everyone together and add a new element to the game’s experience.
With this new event, comes a new special Pokémon for Trainers to catch and add to their collection. The very first Pokémon Community Day will be on January 20th and feature a very special Pikachu. This Pikachu will be unique in the way that it will know the move Surf, which is usually reserved for Water type Pokémon. This is a throwback to Pokémon Yellow, which featured a surfing Pikachu in the cinematic intro of the Gameboy Color game. Along with this special Pikachu, you’ll also earn double XP during the event hours and be able to set out three hour Lures.
If you’re wondering what time the event will start in your area, we have you covered on that.
- In the Asia-Pacific region the event will run from January 20 at 12:00p.m. to 3:00p.m. JST.
- In Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and India the event will run from January 20 at 10:00a.m. to 1:00a.m. UTC.
- In the Americas and Greenland the event will run from January 20 at 11:00a.m. to 2:00p.m. PST.
It’s nice to see Niantic bringing more events to Pokémon GO and giving Trainers the opportunity to catch special Pokémon.
