AC Origins Launches The Animus Control Panel Today

Our Jan really enjoyed Assassin’s Creed: Origins, as did I. I’m not one for the series, if I am honest, but Origins provided a very enjoyable experience, and the extra time taken by Ubisoft to develop the game really did seem to pay off. Having already released the Discovery Tour for the game, Ubisoft are now ready to release the Animus Control Panel.

The Animus Control Panel will be a PC only download (sorry, console folk), that allows you to mess around with the game in weird and wonderful ways. You can switch character models, make yourself hit harder, take more damage, or have more animal friends. You can also go the other way, making the game far more difficult, should you be a glutton for punishment. The Panel will offer 70 different options that can be tweaked how you like. The video above will give you a rough overview of the possibilities. I’m really looking forward to diving into the game again over the weekend, and giving this a proper poke around.

I guess it is essentially officially allowing access to the type of things that modders might try to do, and I’m sure plenty of people out there will have a lot of fun playing around with this. Also, as simple as this might sound, being able to change character models is a boon in a game with a robust photo mode like this one.

I am shocked to be saying this, but Ubisoft have done well with Origins. Not only is the game itself rather good, but this continued post launch support is impressive. While they are, of course, selling DLCs, these additional expansions upon what you can do with the base game are really fun and interesting. The Animus Control Panel will be available to download, for free, later today.
