A new card has been revealed from Hearthstone‘s upcoming expansion, The Boomsday Project.
A new blog post on the Hearthstone website has shown off a new Paladin Secret card that will be one of the 135 new cards in the set.
Autodefense Matrix is a new Paladin Secret, and like all the Paladin secrets before it, it costs one mana. Each class has a set Secret cost—two for Hunter and Rogue and three for Mage.
If you play this Secret, the next time one of your minions is attacked it will gain Divine Shield. Much like Freezing Trap or Noble Sacrifice, this will protect the minion being attacked from dying. The Shield will appear before the attack actually happens, meaning it could really mess up your opponent’s trades.
That is, of course, if it sees play. Paladin secrets have traditionally not been particularly popular without other cards like Mysterious Challenger and Hydrologist to make them worthwhile. Right now Paladin decks are mostly token-based, and it won’t be particularly great on a 1/1.
More cards will be revealed imminently in the kickoff livestream before community reveals begin tomorrow.
