More news about PlayStation Classic are coming day after day, and IGN US has managed to obtain some of them contacting Sony directly via email – with the topic being the selection of the games, the possibility that more titles could be added post launch and trophies.
The news are not as great as one could’ve hoped, but to be honest they’re quite predictable. As with Nintendo’s NES and SNES Mini, PlayStation Classic won’t allow to add more games after the release and won’t be connected to the net.
“There are no plans to bring new content to PlayStation Classic post-launch,” a PlayStation spokesperson said. And the same goes with the trophies, which are not going to be added on top of the existing classic titles.
As for the selection of the games, Sony said that there could be differences about them in consideration of the territories where the consoles are going to be sold, and that the success of certain titles won’t determine the possibility that those could get remasters.
“The 20 titles launching with the PlayStation Classic were selected due to their popularity amongst original PlayStation fans. However, it is important to note that the title list is tailored to each region,” the platform holder commented.
“No, PlayStation Classic is a separate initiative from any ports or re-releases of older titles.”
Playstation Classic is releasing December 3, 2018.
