Last year, Sony decided to help regular folks staying home during the Covid-19 pandemic. The company started offering free downloads of some choice games and called its efforts the Play At Home initiative. Last April, this initiative got users free copies of Journey and Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection. Today, Sony president and CEO Jim Ryan announced the return of Play At Home, and that users would be able to download Ratchet & Clank PS4 for free this time around.
“The past 12 months haven’t been easy,” Ryan says in the message, adding that we’re finally seeing some light at the end of the Covid-19 tunnel. As a way to thank the community and give everyone “something to look forward to and another reason to stay safely socially distanced,” PlayStation will be offering a series of free games.
Starting March 1 at 11 PM EST, PlayStation users will be able to download Ratchet & Clank PS4 for free. If you won’t be up that late, don’t worry, the offer runs through the entire month of March. In all, it’s not too surprising that Ratchet & Clank will be offered for free. The game’s sequel, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, recently had its June 11 release date revealed.
This won’t be the only offering as part of PlayStation’s second Play At Home Initiative though. This year, the program from PlayStation will extend from March and into June. There’s no word yet on what players can expect after March.
