An update to Pokémon GO’s Adventure Sync has started rolling out across North America, which will allow players to get notifications about when a new Pokémon is nearby even when the game isn’t open.
A couple of weeks ago, a new feature connected to Pokémon GO‘s Adventure Sync and became available in Australia. Now, this feature is rolling out across North America.
Serebii reports a new feature called Adventure Sync: Nearby has started rolling out to players in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. This new feature adds onto the existing Adventure Sync feature. It lets the Pokémon GO app keep track of players’ walk distances even when the app isn’t open. The total length walked is taken into account for things like Egg hatching and walking with a Buddy Pokémon.
Adventure Sync: Nearby allows for players to receive notifications when a Pokémon they haven’t caught yet are nearby, even if the app isn’t open. This feature can undoubtedly be useful for those who have been unknowingly walking past rare Pokémon while the Pokémon GO app isn’t open. You can turn this feature off in the Pokemon Go game’s Settings menu to remove the notifications.
While the Adventure Sync: Nearby feature has started rolling out to players in North America, there are still plenty of players who have not seen it yet. Once the new feature does become available to you, you will be able to turn it on from the game’s Settings menu. It causes the app to provide you with push notifications regarding the feature. After you decide if you want the notifications on or off, you will still be able to toggle them on or off in Settings if you change your mind.
