PewDiePie’s Mobile Game Rejected From App Store for Being “Too Stinky”

Felix “PewDiePie” Kjellberg has seen better days.

The YouTube superstar, who has millions of followers on YouTube and has gone through his fair share of controversy, recently teamed up with the developers at Bulbware to create Poopdie, a new mobile game now available on the Google Play for Android. But as for Apple and its App Store for iOS devices goes, well…

Kjellberg recently posted a video explaining that the company rejected Poopdie for release on the App Store. As for the reasoning, according to him, the content is too “stinky.” You can see the video below.

Bulbware detailed the situation further on its blog page. It said that, according to Apple, the game has “cruel imagery and sound effect which may disgust users,” going against App Store guidelines.

Both Kjellberg and Bulbware are attempting to appeal with the Apple Review Board, in the hopes of reaching a resolution for its release. It noted a huge demand for the game as well.

“We have received hundreds of iOS users’ requests who are eager to start pooping!” the developer exclaimed.

The game is described as a “dungeon crawler” with slight similarities to the controversial indie hit The Binding of Isaac. In it, players control a worm that can poop out and manage its own Troops. Over the course of the game, you’re able to make them more powerful as you take on the evil Samron and his “stinky” army. (Apple previously rejected The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth for iOS, citing the same standards.)

This comes as a blow to Kjellberg, who announced earlier this morning that he was taking a break from YouTube for at least a part of the coming year. “I’m feeling very tired. I don’t know if you can tell…” he said. “Early next year, I’ll be away for a little while. I’ll explain that later but I wanted to give a heads up.”

For now, Poopdie is an Android exclusive.
