The day we have all been waiting for is here. Rockstar games has officially announced the release date of the highly anticipated Red Dead Redemption 2. The game will release on October 26 of this year. In a statement on their website, Rockstar had this to say.

We are excited to announce that Red Dead Redemption 2 will be released on October 26th 2018. We apologize to everyone disappointed by this delay. While we had hoped to have the game out sooner, we require a little extra time for polish. We sincerely thank you for your patience and hope that when you get to play the game, you will agree the wait will have been worth it.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is the sequel to the best-selling original game of the same name. It is also the first title from Rockstar since their commercial and critical success, GTAV. The game will once again take place in the Wild West, putting the player in control of one Arthur Morgan. As usual, it will be an open world, third person action game.

The original Read Dead Redemption offered players a killer combination of a deep world to explore, and a strong narrative to follow. This time around it is safe to assume that Rockstar will seek to marry these elements with a strong online offering as well. With GTA Online being such a massive success for the publisher, it is not hard to see them doing something similar with Read Dead Redemption 2.

Confirmed platforms so far are PS4 and Xbox One. Nothing has been said about a PC release, and the website shows screenshots only from consoles. We can be reasonably confident the game will get a future PC release, but Rockstar have a history of delaying such things in order to take full advantage of everything PC has to offer.

Something interesting to keep an eye on will be if other publishers decide to juggle their own release dates now, to avoid going head to head with something that is sure to be a sales behemoth. I also think I can speak for everyone at TL;DR Games when I say that we are very much looking forward to bringing you our usual high quality guides for this game.
