Darksiders: Genesis Devs Are Working On a New League of Legends Game, Ruined King

The publishing team at Riot Forge — a part of Riot Games — are ready to work on some different League of Legends experiences. And the first one that’s coming appears to have a very talented team behind it.

During The Game Awards this evening, the team confirmed Ruined King: A League of Legends Story, which will serve as a narrative-focused action/role-playing game. It’s coming from Airship Syndicate, with writer and artist Joe “Mad” Madureira heading up the team. They previously worked on Darksiders: Genesis, which dropped on Steam earlier this month.

“We are building on our experience making Battle Chasers and Darksiders, to create a story-driven, turn-based RPG,” Madureira explained while speaking to DotEsports.

But it’s not a traditional turn-based sort of game. A “new take” is being planned by the team, though Madureira wouldn’t go into detail.

As far as what fans can expect story-wise, “the story takes place after Burning Tides, so everyone believes Gangplank is dead. Bilgewater is in chaos, and you’ll play as some League champions and explore Bilgewater, and the Shadow Isles,” Madureira added.

Pyke, Twisted Fate, and Graves will reportedly be in the game, but full details haven’t come out yet. Hopefully, Riot Forge will have more to say in the months ahead.
