Skull and Bones Pits Pirates Against Everybody Else

Ubisoft’s upcoming grog swilling, plank walking, pirate simulator actually looks like a lot of fun. I wasn’t expecting it to, as I feared it might just be a knock off of the pirate sections of Assassin’s Creed. Skull and Bones is shaping up to be a high fidelity Sea of Thieves, which might just be a big hit with gamers.

The game will take place in a massive shared world, so you are going to be toe to toe with your fellow players. Some of the gameplay looked quite fun, like pulling the sails of a wrecked ship to disguise yourself from enemies. Ship to ship combat looked vicious and beautiful, just what you want to see when you are shaking down people on the high seas and taking their loot.

Players can team up to take on tricky challenges, like attacking forts or taking on massive ships. It really does look like a far more polished version of the naval combat from Black Flag, but I am fine with that. The naval battles were my favorite part of the game, after all. Making it very interesting, once you and your fellow players have completed big missions, you can all turn on each other and fight it out for the rewards. Will you be a sailor with honor, or a vicious pirate who sends his enemies to the briny deep?
