Ubisoft chief creative officer Serge Hascoet has recently released an interesting interview in which he disclosed the future of some of the most beloved Ubisoft intellectual properties, including Splinter Cell, Prince of Persia, and Assassin’s Creed.

When asked about the possibility of the comeback of several of Ubi’s ‘dormant’ IPs, Hascoet immediately mentioned Splinter Cell and Prince of Persia, claiming he loves them both and would love to witness their return.

“I love Splinter Cell. I love Prince of Persia,” he said, later hinting at issues with the resources at Ubisoft’s disposal to finance and work these projects. “I can’t disclose any information at this time, but I can say we are fighting for resources. It’s not a question of will, it’s a question of means.”

On top of that, Hascoet also addressed Assassin’s Creed, out now again with Odyssey, hinting at the possibility that the franchise could return to multiplayer after the pretty good experiments from Brotherhood to Black Flag.

“We have many technologies, so it’s case by case, but Assassin’s Creed has no multiplayer mode, and that is very important for the social aspect of gaming, so we are looking for that,’ he said.

So, there’s a lot of new stuff in the future for Ubisoft, although it’s clear that the publisher is seeking more viable routes for those single-player franchises which could be a bit out of context in a Fortnite world.

Hopefully, whenever it comes back, Splinter Cell doesn’t turn into a battle royale…
