E3 2018 was quite a huge showcase for Bethesda, and one that surprised a lot of people who know how the company works and in particular relates to its fans when revealing new stuff.
Bethesda Game Studios, most and foremost, revealed a lot of new games and, alongside the narrative of it announcing and launching in a few months titles like Fallout 76, it also showed up with a couple of things that’ll take an unusual amount of time to release.
We’re talking about The Elder Scrolls VI and Starfield, of course, the latter being the first intellectual property from BGS in 25 years.
Discussing Starfield, Todd Howard told The Guardian that there was a long process of preparation, thinking and building the universe before actually bringing it to the people:
“We’ve been talking about it for a decade, we started putting things on paper five, six years ago, and active development was from when we finished Fallout 4, so two and a half, three years,” he said.
Asked about release dates or windows, Howard suggested that “everyone should be very patient. It’s gonna take a while for what we have in mind to come out.”
Starfield is coming first, and then it’ll be The Elder Scrolls VI’s turn. Whether both or just one happen to launch in time for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One generation, it’s still up in the air. But, again, we’ll need to be “very patient”…
