Undead Labs invited select few press members to playtest and preview State of Decay 2 and almost all of them reported about the bugs and issues. Design Director Brian Foge in a recent interview to Metro UK assured the fans that all bugs will be fixed before May 22 launch.
State of Decay 2 has recently been for the first time in the hands of the press, and among the things people have noticed thus far, there’s the number of bugs the game currently has attached to it.
Interestingly, Undead Labs was quick to point out in a recent interview that the build press had the chance to give a look at and play was a bit old, so all the bugs they’ve met or at least a good chunk of them are set to be fixed before launch.
“The build’s a little bit older, we’re fixing some bugs. As we continue to support and develop the game that’s gonna be a focus for us, it’s going to be continuing to fix bugs people are encountering and improving the experience overall. At launch, we’ll fix quite a few of the things that you encountered today. But as an ongoing experience… big open world sandbox games have a lot of problems that need to be fixed,” design director Brian Foge told Metro GameCentral.
“Because ultimately any blemishes are overcome by the quality of the gameplay experience. There are obviously many different ways to make a video game. Emphasising and focusing on everything being pitch perfect and bulletproof is certainly one way to do it.”
Talking about what he enjoys the most out of State of Decay 2, Foge mentioned that the freedom of doing whatever you want in the game’s world is the core of the experience and the thing he likes the most, as you can see below.
“I am biased towards making sure the game is as fun as possible, is as broad an experience as it should be – in terms of driving, shooting, base-building, community management, and more – I wanted to push as many features into the game as we needed to make that experience cohesive and compelling. And then take care of the problems that we had as we had time to do it.”
State of Decay 2 is launching on May 22, with an Ultimate Edition coming a few days earlier on May 18 in case you want all the additional content releasing in the months after day one and the early access on PC Windows 10 & Xbox One.
