The Outer Worlds is getting its first story DLC next year, as announced by Obsidian Entertainment.
For those looking for a reason to dive back into the corporate, corrupt world of The Outer Worlds, you are in luck: the game is set to receive its first story DLC sometime next year!
As announced in a post on Obsidian Entertainment’s official forums, social media manager, Shyla, gave thanks to the developers and fans of the game in the wake of the game’s many nominations in last night’s Game Awards. After giving thanks to everyone who has helped bring the game to life and make it successful, Shyla has this to say:
“The reception to The Outer Worlds has been unbelievable to see, and even just being nominated means a lot. However, the journey isn’t over yet as we are excited to announce that we will be expanding the story through DLC next year! Details will be made available at a later date”.
Without any details, speculation can only be kept at a minimum, but fans of the open world game are sure to be excited to get their hands on more quests and activities.
While not winning any of the awards it was nominated for, the amount of nominations the game recevied – including Game of the Year – is indicative of the success it has had since its launch in October. Seen as a return to form for Obsidian, the game quickly stole the hearts of many gamers who felt scorned by the struggles of Fallout 76. While not reaching the scope of some of the earlier games in that series, the tight writing, fun characters, and branching paths made the game a hit. In our review, we said that, “It’s going to be hard for Obsidian to top this one. The Outer Worlds stands as one of the company’s greatest accomplishments”.
It looks like Obsidian is looking to keep the success going with this announcement.
The Outer Worlds is available now for PC, Xbox One, and Playstation 4, with a version for the Nintendo Switch set to be released later on.
