The Sims 4: Cats and Dogs was released on Nov. 10 and added, well, cats and dogs to The Sims 4. There’s a number of animals available, as well as extensive customization options. Players are also able to pursue a new career path as a veterinarian.

In its third-quarter financial earnings report, Electronic Arts reported that The Sims 4’s player base grew more than 35 percent since last year, likely due to the Cats and Dogs expansion pack being its highest-performing expansion pack “to date.”
Players had been eager to add pets to their Sims families since The Sims 4’s initial release in early September 2014. The Sims 3 players had become used to having pets in the family, as the Pets expansion released for The Sims 3 in October 2011, adding cats, dogs, horses, and deer to the game.
The Sims 4‘s Cats and Dogs expansion added only cats and dogs, but is generally a more robust and realistic expansion pack. Animals in The Sims 4 behave more like animals, and players cannot take control of them as in The Sims 3.
The Sims 4 released on console shortly after the Cats and Dogs PC launch, though the expansion pack is not currently available on Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
