Red Dead Online has arrived. Today, we discovered many of the activities that you can get up to in this lush and vibrant online world.
Red Dead Online launched today. The much longed for game mode has arrived, much to the delight of everyone here at TLDR. Details of the staggered release of the game dropped yesterday, and today we can tell you some of the various activities you can get up to in the game.
From their press release today, it sounds like Rockstar sees the launch of Red Dead Online as just being the start of a long journey.
The world of Red Dead Online will be a continually expanding experience. There will also be some additions and updates throughout the Beta period. Starting this week, you can ride with friends in a Posse, set up your Camp, embark on cooperative story-based missions or go head-to-head in competitive series, find strangers throughout the world to help (or hurt), tackle spontaneous Free Roam challenges, go hunting, fishing, bond with your horse, explore with friends or on your own (but look out for ambushes), and much more.
The mode will include character creation, and you will be able to take part in many of the experiences you can do in the single player game, but with your friends. Setting up a camp sounds interesting, and I hope it is something that groups of friends can all contribute to. You will also have an honor rating, which will vary depending on how you play in the world of Red Dead Online.
The world will be filled with Free Roam Missions, marked out by icons on the map. You will be able to play these with friends, and the missions can vary depending on your honor rating. The Land of Opportunities questline will allow up to four players to engage in a long thread of tasks. These sound a lot like Heists, and I am interested to see how they are implemented in the game.
The competitive playlist brings five modes, Shootout & Team Shootout, Make it Count, Most Wanted, Hostile Territory, and Name Your Weapon. All in all, it sounds like Red Dead Online will contain a lot of things to keep us all busy, and will only grow larger over time. I’m looking forward to hitting the open range with my friends.
