It’s been reported that Ubisoft plans to develop animated TV shows based on some of their video game properties.

Ubisoft is a French video game company that operates in Montreuil. They are known for developing the Rayman, Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, Just Dance, and the Raving Rabbids video game franchise. The Rabbids series already had their animated TV show that aired on France 3, Netflix, and Nickelodeon called Rabbids Invasion. The show has been running for four seasons now.

The Hollywood Reporter had the exclusive announcement that Ubisoft is developing more new TV shows based on their games. One of the news shows will be based on Rayman, a platforming game series. The Rabbids franchise was initially a spin-off of Rayman.

It is also stated that Ubisoft is developing a show based on the mobile game Hungry Shark, which is currently being labeled as the Hungry Shark Squad.

Both Rayman and the Hungry Shark are kid-friendly franchises, and their shows are most likely going to be aimed at a family-friendly crowd. With that said, Ubisoft is also planning to create new shows that will be aimed at a slightly older crowd, specifically towards young preteens.

One of these “tween” shows will be based on the Watch Dogs series. The in-development Watch Dogs show is being described as a “cyber mystery”, and it will center on a teen girl who uses her hacking skills to solve crimes at her high school.

The last in-development show mentioned in THR is called Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Vibe, which is based on the Blood Dragon expansion from Far Cry 3. This show is being created in partnership with Adi Shankar, one of the lead creators for the Castlevania TV show on Netflix. Captain Laserhawk is being aimed at a young adult crowd.

It should be noted that Watch Dogs and Far Cry are a rated-M game franchise. The TV shows are being toned down to be aimed at a younger crowd.

These newly announced TV shows are all part of Ubisoft’s plan to bring their video game IP to other media.
